can't reset the email

When I get a comment on my dianespaintingblog blog it is going to an old email ((email visible only to moderators and staff)) which I want to delete. When I go into settings and try to change the email toit tells me the email is already in use. The email I want to use ((email visible only to moderators and staff)) I have had for 8 years, so don’t know why I’m getting this message.

Hi there,
The email address you want to use is already linked to a different WordPress.com account. Each WordPress.com account has to use a unique email address (you can’t use the same email address for two accounts).

You can also enter the email address you want to use in our password reset form to regain access to the account using that email:
https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

This is still not resolved. I tried to reset the password for email (email visible only to moderators and staff). I received a email that said:
Someone recently requested that the password be reset for
dianeeugster418542419
to reset your password please click the button:Rachel, I don’t know what dianeeugster418542419 is, so resetting the password doesn’t seem to help my problem. Do you have any suggestions?
Getting back to the beginning- I have a wordpress blog with a registered domain name ragdollsrising.com. I no longer want this site or the domain name.
I’ve started a new blog Dianespaintingblog that I don’t want associated at all with the other blog. I simply want the Dianespaintingblog with the email (email visible only to moderators and staff) and I want the other blog to go away-

You received that email because that email address ((email visible only to moderators and staff)) is linked to a WordPress.com account with the username dianeeugster418542419. As long as it’s linked to that username, you won’t be able to use it with your username dianeeugster and any blogs on that account (such as your new blog at dianespaintingblog.wordpress.com).
You can use the steps described here to change the email address linked to dianeeugster418542419: http://en.support.wordpress.com/email-address/#issues-changing-your-email-address
That will free up your email address so you can use it with your username dianeeugster, instead.

I can cancel the domain name ragdollsrising.com for you, if you no longer want it. Please keep in mind that canceling a domain means you give up ownership of that domain name. The domain name may not be released immediately, and there’s no guarantee that you’ll be able to register it again in the future.
If you’re sure you no longer want it, please confirm that and I’ll cancel it for you.

I changed the email on my dianesartblog site 2 days ago and it still says that there is a pending email change to (email visible only to moderators and staff).
How long does it take to actually change? -
Hi Diane,
When you enter a new email address for your account, you’ll get a confirmation email at that new address. You’ll need to click the confirmation link in that email to complete the change. (Until then, the change will be pending.)
It looks like you completed the change for your dianeeugster account, so you should be all set with that. Please let me know if I can do anything more to help!
