Cant reset theme/website to how it looks normally

Hi! I deleted almost every block on my homepage and theres pretty much just plain white now. I did that because previously when I tried to change theme, the blocks from a previous theme stayed and the only thing that changed were fonts and… the narrowness of the blocks.

In any way, I am a new user and want to get started here, but there seem to be no easy way of resetting my homepage so that whenever I change theme, it looks exactly like an untouched theme.

    What can I do?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there, can you clarify your intent?

there seem to be no easy way of resetting my homepage so that whenever I change theme, it looks exactly like an untouched theme.

When you change to a new theme, the home page will switch to the homepage for that theme. Did you want to swap that out for a blank homepage, or a homepage that was previously edited?

Or, are you switching back to a theme you’ve used previously and having trouble getting a fresh copy of that theme’s homepage?

If you’ll clarify, we’ll help you get this sorted out.

Hi Supernovia. Thank you for your reply. I realise I was unclear in my post. I am looking for a way to “reset” my current theme to the original look of that theme. If Im using Hever, and messed things up, Id like to simply be able to reset it.

  • Hmm. I see that the current theme in use on the site is Escutcheon. Looks like that change happened about 4 hours ago. Before that, it looks like you tried all of these in the past 12 hours.

    Libretto
    Circa
    Intergalactic 2
    Escutcheon
    Independent Publisher 2

The original theme is our default, Twenty Twenty.

Can you look at these theme demo pages to see which one you specifically were wanting to use again?

Hi Lizkarkoski, thank you for your reply. It is true I tried several different themes, and I unfortunately I am undecided still which theme I want. This is partly due to a problem that I raise in this post around switching between themes, and why it does not seem to work properly for me:
    https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/why-does-theme-switching-mess-up-my-newly-created-blog/

This post however merely is a request for a “reset”-function in the case that I mess up the design of a theme. I’m wondering if there is an easy way to change, for example a Hever theme, or any theme, back to its original look, before any modifications were made.

I hope I made myself clear,
    Best,
    Elias

  • Elias, if you’ve used a theme before, we intentionally go back to your modified version of its home page.

But, here’s how you can have a new copy of that layout:

    – Go to https://wordpress.com/page

    – Pick the site you’re working on

    – Scroll down through the Page Templates. Home page templates are at the bottom.

    – Pick the template, customize it as you like, and Publish.

Then, you can make that new page your home page by using these steps:

    Set the Homepage
