Cant return original Sela theme layout
-
Hi, I am new to wordpress so I’m finding things confusing. I had a navigation menu and other things at the bottom of my Sela theme layout and I accidently deleted them because I didnt realise they were able to be customised and now I have no idea how to get them menus back? I’ve tried changing my theme and then changing it back but they still haven’t come back. Can anyone help? My blog is – dreamingoctober.wordpress.com
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
From what you are describing, you are trying to get back the layout of your Footer, and the items that were there. The Footer is the bottom section of your website and it usually stays the same throughout the website.
Sela theme has 3 different sections in the Footer, where you can activate different Widgets to display there.
There are 2 ways you can access these Widgets and experiment with what you need to display there. Here is one of the ways to do this:Go to My sites > Themes, and press the Customize button (next to Themes)>Widgets>First Footer Widget. Then you would press the ‘Add a widget’ button and choose from the list of Widgets.
You can do this for each of the Footer Widget areas and press ‘Save & Publish’ each time you finish adding widgets.Let us know how you get on.

I can run a tool that will set up your site like the demo again.
There are two ways I can do this:
1 – Erasing your existing content and starting from scratch, as if you were creating a brand new site.
2 – Preserving your existing content and adding the demo content in addition to it.Let me know which option you prefer and I can run the tool.
Alternatively, can also add back widgets manually from the WP Admin dashboard here:

And you can reassign your menu to the primary menu area in your Customizer’s Menus panel.

I’ve done something similar – I’ve managed to delete media content, banners etc. from the library, and can’t reset the Sela theme. I’ve got all my images and so on ready to go into the theme, but now the theme is all wonky. I’ve tried setting another theme and going back to Sela, but it doesn’t reset the content I deleted. Is it possible for me to have the site set to the demo, whilst preserving what is there (pages etc)? Thanks!

statiscape2014 – I ran the setup tool on your site, while preserving existing content. This means that there are now some duplicate pages, which you can delete as you like in your dashboard.
Please keep in mind that the tool cannot restore content that you had previously added and then deleted from the media library.

Excellent, thank you – and thanks so much for your swift response, I really appreciate it.
For future readers – don’t be so foolish as to batch delete media without checking whether you are deleting items necessary for the theme to function (I’m a long-time WordPress user, so I should know better – hopefully this warns a beginner not to make such a fundamental error).
