Can't reuse my username, even after after deleting.

  I created a new blog with a new username. But after creating it, I decided to just turn my old blog into my new one with the new username and delete the old stuff (to keep my subscribers). So I deleted the new one right after I created it. And now WordPress is telling me that the username I created and then deleted, is still not available. How can this be resolved?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Sorry to tell you, but once deleted it is gone.

  When deleting your new blog/username you should have received at least two separate notices indicating that you cannot get it back again should you delete it. http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/

  Not picking on you, but when it comes to things like this you really, really, really, really need to read carefully and understand what you are doing. The warnings are as clear as they can be, and the most important part is even highlighted in yellow.

  So instead of deleting both, I should have chosen the option to “free up the blog name so someone else can use it”? I guess I didn’t understand the difference. I read the highlighted parts. I merely thought deleting both the blog and the username would still allow it. Oh well.

  Sorry, no. Once deleted they are gone forever. At some point perhaps wordpress.COM will start making some of the old deleted blog names available again, but no one knows if they will, or when.

  That is not true: If one deletes a blog and / or username, that person can use the same email address to start a new blog or to take on a different username.
  For example, click on the word “member” under stinkprettyblog’s name.

  While thenubbin blog has been deleted, stinkprettyblog is still using the original email address she used to set up the WordPress account 9 months ago.
