Can't review Spam comments – not staying in filter

  At some point early on in my blog I happened to catch a comment marked as spam in my filter that was not spam. This concerned me, but every time I try to review the comments marked as spam, it always says there are none in my queue, yet the number of “spam” comments it says it is catching keeps growing! I would like to be able to review the comments that have been detected as spam to make sure it is not filtering others that should not be filtered, but there doesn’t seem to be a way to do that. What is the solution?

  Comments that Akismet thinks are spam will automatically be deleted for posts published more than 30 days ago. All other spam comments end up in your spam queue for you to review.
