Can’t save post
-
When I click “save” and “save and continue editing” or “publish”, I get a javascript confirm telling me that I’m navigating away from the page and unsaved changes will be lost. All 3 buttons result in the text of my post disappearing. If I try and then edit the post to paste my entry in, the same thing happens when I try and save that. What’s going on?
This happens in Firefox not IE

I’ve had the same problem.Do you use spellceck from google?
I’ve so don’t use it anymore. Google makes those words in some kinds of code. (you can see them if you copy and past to this site: http://www.spellcheck.net/)Whit those codes’included you got a problem. Use this spellceck or use the spell check from wordpress.Hopes this will help you.

I was also having the same problem earlier tonight, both with the text disappearing when I saved the post and then later when I tried to edit and paste the code in. And yes, I had used the spellcheck feature before the first time I tried to save. What I ended up doing was pasting my spellchecked text into a text editor, creating a new post, and then pasting the text into the new post. BTW, this problem happened to me using Camino.

I get this problem no matter what browser I use. Flock, I.E. and firefox, on both Mac and PC.
EDIT: I typed it all from scratch in the editor and still would not publish, save or save & continue editing. Just does not want to work.
Also, I am unable to add or edit categories. -

drmike – No, I have consistently clicked “no,” because that little warning thing always freaked me out, and I thought, whatever it is, I sure don’t want to do it. In the beginning, clicking “no” would send me back to where I had been (no text loss).
I did click “yes” once, to see what would happen, and of course, it resulted in the loss of the text I wanted to save. That I understood, because, well, I clicked “yes.” My bad, ya know?
But now, if I get this screen (the warning screen) even when I click “no,” and am sent back to the editing page, all the text is gone too.
Funny thing is, I don’t ALWAYS get the warning screen. At first I thought it was linked to the spell check (which was acting flaky) but this evening I lost text (in the above mentioned clicking “no” way) and then tried again, for laughs, and everything worked just fine.
I “feedbacked” you, not knowing this thread was here. Sorry if you are recieving double info.

I’m having the same problem and am not using a spell checker or doing anyting different than I was previous to yesterday when this started happening. I just lost a long complicated post with several links and a picture. I’d worked a long time to get it right and it’s all gone now.

Hi, I’ve just joined WordPress from Blogger, and I too, am experiencing the same problem as Egana.
Whenever I publish a new post, everything’s fine. But the minute I go back to that post (or any other post for that matter) to do any little bit of editing, I am then prompted with that irritating window asking me to confirm if I want to navigate away from the page, because by doing so, changes made will be lost. The options presented are either (i) to “Cancel”, i.e. that I will remain on that same page of edited but unsaved text, or (ii) to click “OK”, which means that I confirm that I am navigating away from the page but without my editing having been saved.
My way of solving this so far has been to always keep a copy of the text in a text editor on my computer (I use the Firefox browser on a Mac) so that when this WordPress edit problem happens, I’ll just delete that post and publish a fresh one. But obviously I can’t do this for all those long posts with lots of pictures and stuff, and if comments have already been left there.
Can someone from WordPress PLEASE help?? This has really been hampering my blog editing, and obviously there’s a glitch in the system somewhere if I’m still experiencing this problem 8 months’ down the road. :(
Many thanks in advance!!

I know it is not a fix, but this from Rain seems to be a temporary fix to the problem.

That “temporary fix” from Rain didn’t work for me either, because my problem arises in relation to posts which have already been published that I want to edit (and obviously can’t, because of that window which keeps popping up and asking me to confirm that I want to navigate away from the page, rather than to just save the edits made). Argh, it’s really frustrating, help!

just do it again and again and first plz select ur post and then copy after that u were able to eidt

I’m not sure you’re understanding my workaround. This could well be a totally different bug than the one this workaround works for, though, so it might not be effective.
If you highlight all the text and, while the text is still highlighted, click Publish, you should not get the box popping up at all. Does it still happen anyway?
-
Tried that Raincoaster, and yes, with the text still highlighted I tried to click “Save” / “Save and Continue Editing”, and STILL that confirmation box pops up. SOBS!!
Choculate, thanks for the encouragement, but it’s still the same. :(

I’m sorry that’s not working for you. All I can suggest at this point is sending a feedback and asking staff to look into it. With a Feedback they get all the technical information about your blog and computer setup automatically.
