Can't see anything "Published"

I’ve made a page and it tells me “Page successfully updated. Lookin’ good”

But when I look there’s nothing there.

    It says ..

    “NOTHING FOUND

Ready to publish your first post? Get started here.
Blog at WordPress.com. | The Blask Theme.”

I managed to publish a page a couple of days ago. But now I can’t get it to work.

I’m trying to make a portfolio page and set it as my home page (I don’t want a blog). But I can’t get past the first stage of just making any page at all.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

re: the front page error message found on every new .wordpress.com blog

    Nothing Found
It seems we can’t find what you’re looking for. Perhaps searching can help.

There is nothing wrong with your site. By default the front page of the blog is the only page that will display all published posts on it. As soon as you publish a post not a page the front page error message and searchbox that appears on every new WordPress.COM blog will be gone. http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/

I recommend using the step by step tutorial linked to the bottom of your Admin page https://learn.wordpress.com

See also the “Video Quick Start” tutorial http://en.support.wordpress.com/video-quick-start/

The support documentation is all found at the Support link http://en.support.wordpress.com which is also linked to on the bottom of your Admin page.

Note that every theme will have a detailed theme description page with set up instructions and a live demo site page that you can consult. Here’s an example:

    re: my pages aren’t appearing

    Please see https://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ first.
They must be public pages – not private and not drafts.
Public – The page will be visible to everyone.
Protected – The page is protected with a password you set. Only people who have the password can view a protected page.
Private – Pages are only visible to blog Editors and Administrators. Private pages are not visible in Reader, feeds, or in any search. A page can be private without being password protected.

    Thanks for your response.

I did have things published on the front page but deleted them in preparation for moving to a static home page. I’ve put some stuff back there now just to check it still works.

I made a page called “Home” and have put some pictures on it but it doesn’t appear when “Published”.

It is set to Public. It’s not Password-protected.

The URL of such a published page would be http://colourshropshire.com/home/
In fact this is the Home page of your blog http://colourshropshire.com/ as that is the blog’s URL.

Thanks for your reply, but I really do understand the way the site works. (I have made two other sites here).

I named a page “Home” as part of the process of creating a static home page. (The process described here – https://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/ )

Just to check, I’ve now made another page – Called “New Page” in standard format and that is publishing OK.

And yet another – “called Another New Page” – in portfolio format – and that is not showing its content.

There seems to be a problem with publishing portfolio pages.

  • Hi @angelaheeley , let’s try this. You’ll want to complete each of these steps in order:

    1. Go ahead and remove the portfolio project called “Home” — you want a home page, not a home project. You’ll want to delete it and then empty it out of the trash. You’ll only want use the “Project” type for your individual portfolio pieces.

    2. Create a new page. Call it Home. Leave it blank. Set the page template to Portfolio (because this will display your collection of portfolio projects.) Publish this page.

    3. (Optional) Create a new page called News (or Blog). This page can be blank too. Publish it.

    4. Go to Customize > Static Front Page. Select “Home” as your home page, and “Blog” as your posts page. Save the changes.

    5. Add a few portfolio projects — one for Water Pump and one for New Roman House, for example. Add a featured images to each one.

We’ll go from there if you still have questions!

Wow! Thanks so much. That fixed it. :-)
I just need to get out and take some more photos now.
