Can’t See Header or Footer in Site Editor
-
Hi,
I can’t see the header or footer in site editor, but I can see them when I load the preview of my site. But this makes it impossible to edit the header and footer, customizing them with my own info. I even downloaded WP Reset and reset my entire site, attempting to start over to fix the problem. But now it’s saying that jetpack can’t communicate with my site because my site isn’t connected. But when I go to reconnect jetpack, it gives me an error message:
Invalid request, please go back and try again.
Error Code: invalid_scope
Error Message: Invalid scope parameterI’m wondering why this is happening? Admittedly this is my first WordPress site I’m making from scratch– I’ve only used Squarespace before which is obviously much simpler. Thanks so much for your help!!

Hi there, we’ve fixed up your Jetpack connection and things should be working properly now. If you need assistance like this in the future, please don’t use WP Reset as that will likely break your Jetpack connection again. Instead, reach out to support and we’ll be glad to help!

Hi Kathryn,
Thank you so much for your help and your prompt reply! I will definitely reach out next time I have an issue and not use reset. I’d rather not start all over anyways 😅 I see that the jetpack issue is gone, but sadly I still cannot see the header and footer… I also see “attempt block recovery” on some of the sample images/blocks from the demo. Here are some screenshots so you can see what I’m talking about:

The first photo is how I got to the next 5– by clicking “Home” in “Pages”. The 2nd photo is the missing header. The 3rd-4th photos are of the blocks saying they have unexpected or invalid content. The 5th photo is of the missing footer. The 6th photo is of the hierarchy, notice how the header and footer are missing there as well. Then the 7th photo is of the demo page when I type the-dragons-den.com into the URL search bar. Notice how the header shows up there, but not in my editor. Frustrating because I need to edit the header still…
Again, thank you so much for your help! I am an HTML, CSS, and wordpress beginner (I’ve only developed clients’ existing wordpress.com sites, but never started my own from scratch). Definitely thanking myself now for going with wordpress.com and not wordpress.org based on these initial hurdles I’m encountering, and also thanking myself for switching from squarespace as the increased functionality of WP is a major plus!
