can’t see my categories

  • Unknown's avatar

Just set up a new blog. Have set up 7 categories, and have posts in 2 categories. The category appears under the post heading in each of the posts.
When I click on “Site Admin” to go to the Dashboard, under the “Right Now” heading it shows 7 categories. But when I click on the word “category” in this list and a list of the categories appears on the right hand side, the column for no. of posts shows zero for all categories.

As far as i can tell, I have set up categories correctly, but whether I select drop down or not I am not able to see the categories. Help would be most appreciated.

    Many thanks
    toni

The Categories widget in your sidebar shows nothing, and the Categories list in your dashboard shows zero, because you have zero published posts.

Just worked the problem out. Because I intend this blog to be a research tool for myself and not for public viewing, I had opted for the posts to be private. This also means the categories don’t show up, even though there are posts in two of the categories. Mystery solved.

Then you should make the whole blog private (in Settings>Privacy), not the posts.

Thanks. I just worked it out.
