cant see sites using tor over vpn

cant see sites when using tor over a vpn connection. cant make new sites or see sites previously made on another browser when using tor over a vpn connection. cleared cache by reloading the browser but still cannot see the sites. I have a feeling that the new javascript based access does not like tor browser access. See previous message for other issue where I could not make sites using tor browser. Snowden would not be able to post a WordPress based disclosure…
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
The new editor and dashboard uses JavaScript, but you should still be able to view sites normally in your browser even when completely blocking JavaScript. That will only mean certain features, like the Like and Sharing buttons and some widgets won’t work.
Is it possible for you to use your VPN with another browser? That might help narrow down whether your VPN, or your TOR browser is the source of the problem.

I am pretty sure that it is the Tor browser that is causing the problem. Can you say why WordPress.org does not support the TOR browser? What if I were wanting to blog about subject matter that could give problems to me in a country with an oppressive dictatorship? Is there anyway to work around the cookie issue?

I think it’s simply a case that it’s not possible to support every browser that exists, so we have to focus on the browsers with the biggest market share and that have the most comprehensive support for HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript which is used to create our sites.
That said, I downloaded TOR last night, and I’m able to view the WordPress.com home page and WordPress.com sites, and I can use the WP-Admin dashboard of my own sites without any problem. It even tracks my login across different sites, so it seems cookies are working correctly as well, just as it would in incognito mode on a regular browser.
It’s only the new My Sites section and certain widgets that won’t work for me, and I’ve found other threads in this forum mentioning that this is a known issue, but not something we can fix.
If you are unable to use the WP-Admin pages or view WordPress.com sites, it might be that your settings in TOR are more strict than the default settings I’m using right now. I suggest you contact the people at The TOR project for help with those settings as I really don’t have the knowledge to help you troubleshoot that: https://www.torproject.org/about/contact.html.en

Thanks for taking the time to look at this. I do understand the browser issue and not supporting those that are not main stream. I will look at my browser settings as I did have the shields up for ultra stealth browsing. I will experiment more with settings that perhaps will meet the security I am trying to work out. I am assuming that the cookies that WP uses are for state and identity and they are persistent. I also assume that they are created each time that a user logs in. Thanks again for your help. The Tor browser is kind of nice to be familiar with I am glad that you tried it out.

I’m not that familiar with the technical side of cookies, but we do have documentation that explains the different types of cookies we use in more detail. You can see that here:
