Can't set posts to private

Hi. I just set up an account and I have to say that what I just saw isn’t doing anything to build confidence. I am left with the impression that one of your developers was playing around with one of your features and broke it.
When I go to edit one of my posts and click on the word “public” next to “visibility,” your system brings up the drop down menu with the options that are supposed to be there (Public, Private and Password Protected), but when I tried to set the sample post to “private,” instead of getting the nearly filled in circle I saw next to “public,” I just got a circle around the button, and the new private setting didn’t save. Wondering if the problem was with the fact that I was setting a sample post to private, I created a test post and tried again. The same thing happened. I found that I could set the post to “password protected” and to “public,” but not to “private.”
I know a number of people with blogs on WordPress.com who have successfully set posts to private, before, so I know that’s supposed to work. So, please fix that. Also, my brother said that if you could get the developers to stop fixing things that weren’t broken, that would be awesome and that would probably do a lot to keep things like this from happening.

I tried to replicate the issue you mentioned but I wasn’t able to do so. When you clicked on private, did you see a question pop up asking: “Would you like to privately publish this post now?:
What browser do you use to edit? Would you mind trying with a different browser to see if the same thing happens?

I did some more research and it is possible that you are experiencing a known bug.

Are you using Chrome version 92?
