Can't set static homepage… can't see settings to do this
-
Hi,
I’ve set up a new site with the ‘Morden’ theme. I’ve created two new pages, named one ‘Home’ and one ‘about me’. Both I have published ‘privately’ and I haven’t yet put any text/detail on.
I’m trying to set the ‘home’ page as my static homepage. When I go into the customizer, it just gives me a template page (I assume within the theme) and I can’t access the two pages I’ve created.
This has meant two problems for me:
1. setting one of my own blank template pages as a homepage (static)
2. editing my new homepage in customizer (so I can remove the site title etc).Having looked online it seems to suggest that in the customizer/settings/reading there should be a homepage section where you can edit and choose your static page, but this doesn’t show for me (perhaps because I’m only using the free version?)
Would really appreciate any help. Thank you!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
You may set a static homepage at Customize > Homepage Settings “Your homepage displays” by selecting the “A static page” option, then choosing a page from the first drop-down menu, and then saving the edit by clicking the Publish button. Have you tried that?
When I go into the customizer, it just gives me a template page (I assume within the theme) and I can’t access the two pages I’ve created.
The pages drop-down menu will only included published pages. It may omit pages that are password protected. Is that what you mean by saying you published them privately?
The other pages that your refer to as “template pages” might be default pages, pages that were automatically created when the site was created. Such pages may be edited or deleted as can any page.
