Can't set up new blog
-
Hi, I already have a couple of wordpress.com blogs and some self hosted managed through the app. I’m trying to set up a new free wordpress.com blog for my local reading group. When I get to step 3 I only see options for buying domains, which is not what we need. I just want a really basic free one. I’ve tried on the iPad app, in safari on the ipad and in Firefox on my laptop.
Any ideas? ThanksThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
On step 3, after you enter a domain name, the very first row that shows up in the list of rows is the free one.
The domain which ends with wordpress.com is the free one.
For example, I just tested this domain ‘omkarxyz.wordpress.com’ and it worked for me.
So go ahead and try it once again and let me know if it works :)

Somehow that added my current blog to the query. The one I’m trying to set up is readingroundagain.wordpress.com.
I do not see a way to add screenshot to this conversation but what I see in first place is
readingroundagain.blog which is £18 a year.
There’s no option to create a new wordpress.com
Could my account be locked or something?
Thanks for your help

If you visit this page(link below), it should automatically fill in the step 3 domain and let you register a free domain –
https://wordpress.com/start?ref=typo&new=readingroundagainThe free domain readingroundagain.wordpress.com shows up for me when I enter it on step 3.
But I think this is a weird issue so I’ll add the modlook tag and someone from the staff will look into this :)

Howdy lindiop :)
I’ll be happy to help you get readingroundagain.wordpress.com registered to your account. Let’s try this.
Go to My Sites > Switch Site > Add New (all the way down at the bottom)
It should look like this as you click through.

Hi Liz
Following your instructions I can get all the way to the ‘choose domain’ step of the process. I then, as I said before, do not see a wordpress.com option at the top but a list of paid for domains.
I am now convinced that my account has been locked as I’ve tried on numerous devices.
Thanks anyway
