can’t setup blog without being demanding to pay for domain….

  i really don’t understand what has happened to wordpress. why can i not register a simple wordpress blog without getting locked into screens demanding that i sign up for a paid domain and website hosting? wordpress used to be a good cms.
  how do i go about? the registration is a nightmare.

  You can always skip those upgrades and stick with the free plan and the free address. Aren’t you able to do so?
