Can't setup contact me box

I’m trying to set up a contact box so that I can get users who want to contact me by email without having to go through clicking on a link that pops up my email. I’m following the directions listed on http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/ but the box isn’t appearing anywhere. I tried to do it as both a page and a post, neither really works. Please help!

[contact-form]is that the format you are using? Are you typing it in or are you copying and pasting? -
I wish I even knew what it was that you’re talking about. Beginners like myself have no idea what’s going on with this stuff. I feel as if it may be time to just walk away from the whole thing.
I see something that says [contact-form]. But where to I even write this if not in the title of the generate form box that pops up when I click the icon as described by the link I posted in the last message.
Do you have any advice for where I can learn this stuff better than the wordpress tutorial pages, which are obviously still too difficult for a novice like me to understand?

Make a Post (or Page) put “Contact Me” in the title.
Then go down in the main body of the Post with your cursor and click on the “Add Form” Icon (top row right side) or enter
[contact-form]in the body of the Post then safe the draft – if you are trying to put anything about the contact form in the Post Title you will have trouble. -
My poor pitiful me party has just given way to me figuring it out! However, if you know a way to change the font color in custom design, please let me know.
