Can't sign up for a new blog
-
I already have a blog on WordPress.com and was trying to sign up for another one yesterday and today. But WordPress.com is not working. When I enter all the information and click the create a blog button I only get an error. Of course the error says to contact support but my experience with WordPress support is that it will take them at least 8 months to respond. That isn’t really useful to anyone so I thought I would try getting help here.
Does anyone here know if WordPress.com is having problems or is there something I am missing?
Thanks.

Of course the error says to contact support
What exactly did the error message state? Post it here please.

Hi there!
I’m sorry you’ve had bad experiences with our support in the past. I can assure you we want to respond to every support request that comes in as quickly as possible.
Can you try creating a new site here:
https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/
If you get an error message again, can you copy and paste it’s exact text as timethief requested?

Secure Connection Failed
An error occurred during a connection to signup.wordpress.com. The OCSP response contains out-of-date information. (Error code: sec_error_ocsp_old_response)
Here’s what I just got. Firefox 31.0, Win7x64

I just signed out, and signed back in and all was ok.
I had been signed in since yesterday.
Looks like your site should have automatically updated the HTTPS cache stuff if it needed too. Or a more intelligent message about how I should log in again. ; ) -
There is sort of a “universal fix” here – – Log out, clear browser cache, log in, force a page reload” – not sure if I got the order correctly but this is the general idea
-
I’m glad this is working for you now! Let me know if there’s anything else I can help with!

Here is the error I get no matter what browser I use.
Oops! Sorry an error has occurred. Please click here to contact us so that we can fix it.
Please remember that you have to provide the full, complete Blog URL, otherwise we can not fix itThe URL is:

@watchdr
What you are experiencing seems strange to me. May we please have you report back on what follows?1. If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
2. If you are using an IE browser in compatibility mode please disable that mode. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html
3. Make sure that you have both third-party cookies enabled and JavaScript enabled
http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/
http://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=126544. Disable all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily.
5. Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
6. You can use this link to see if your flash is up to date. http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ If it’s not then go to http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/ and download and install the latest version of flash.
7. Try using another browser.
8. If you are not successful also let us know:
(a) Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com.
(b) Exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://www.whatbrowser.org/ -
Thanks Timethief.
My browsers are:
Chrome 36 which is the current version.
Firefox 28 – I reverted back to 28 after the new version was unstable.
IE 11 – the current versionThe same error happens in all browsers.
When I go to the page:
https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/I put in the blog address I am looking for and then click ‘create website’ I am taken to a page asking for my email address, user name … When I put in my email address it says I have an account and gives a login link that doesn’t work. If I go to the top of the page where the blue menu is and click on ‘login’ I am taken to the login page and I am able to login.
After logging in the page comes up with the page having my new wordpress blog url, blog name (it also says the name I have chosen is available) and then the options to create the blog.
When I click one of the buttons at the bottom to create the blog the next page is the error message which I posted above.
I have another wordpress.com blog which is setup but I am currently not really using. I also have a wordpress.org blog which is being used for my business and is hosted on my domain.
The blog I am trying to set up on wordpress.com is not for my business or any other business.
Up until 2 days ago I did have a second wordpress.com blog but I was not using it and do not plan to use it so I deleted it and disconnected jetpack from my list of blogs in my account.
I don’t know if that makes a difference or not but I thought I would give that info just in case.
I will also add that I have no problem using any of the 3 browsers I mentioned above on both my wordpress.com blog and my wordpress.org blog.

Thanks for the follow up timethief! That information is very helpful. :)
@watchdr – Can you check one thing for me. When I’m logged into WordPress.com and I visit the signup page I see this header which includes my username and a short blurb about how I can create as many sites as I want.
Do you see a similar message when you go here:
https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/
Also, can you confirm whether you have third party cookies and JavaScript enabled as timethief asked in her #3? Here’s steps to check third party cookies in Firefox:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/enable-and-disable-cookies-website-preferences
And JavaScript:

Shawnajroberts,
Yes, I have the same text:
Welcome back, watchdr. By filling out the form below, you can add another blog to your account. There is no limit to the number of blogs you can have, so create to your heart’s content, but blog responsibly. If you’re not going to use a great blog domain, leave it for a new user. Now have at it!
My browser is setup for 3rd party cookies and javascript is enabled.

Hello again! Thanks for that info.
One more question so I can try to recreate your steps exactly. What’s the site you’re trying to register?
-
I have found that I was able to create a blog using a different email address. I don’t know what is wrong with the one I have always used but now I have two accounts.
Is there a way to merge the two accounts or transfer the new blog to my existing account?
-
Yes. You can transfer the new blog to your other username account.
Every blog has a sole owner and it is the person with the username account who registered the blog under that username account and associated email address. No matter how many blogs are created under any username account there will be only one gravatar and one primary blog that can be linked to that username.
You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchased upgrades to renew them, or to transfer the blog(s) and the upgrade(s) to another username account.
To transfer a blog from one username account A to another username account B you must first log in under the username account A that owns the blog you want to transfer to the other username account.
Then you add the other username account B as an Admin of the blog.
adding users http://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/
user roles http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/Then you A can use this process to transfer the blog to that username account B instead http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account
