can’t signup for new blog

Yesterday I tried to sign up for a new blog. But on the signup page, I can’t click on the “blog domain” box. When I put my mouse over it, it just doesn’t “take”. As if I’m blocked, or the page is frozen.
I tried just putting in a blog title and hitting “create blog”, but of course it just asks me again for a blog domain name. And again won’t let me into the box to input a name. I’m talking about the box under the line “If you’re not going to use a great blog domain, leave it for a new user. Now have at it!”
I thought maybe the site, or myself, was having a bad day, so I left it until this morning. But the same thing is still happening. What am I doing wrong?

The site IS having a bad day. They did a major upgrade on Friday and the kinks are still being worked out, but that shouldn’t affect new registrations.
Are you using Safari as your browser? That used to cause problems with those boxes you have to fill in, but that’s supposed to be fixed now. What browser are you using?
Try clearing your browser cache and cookies and reloading the page (the “cookie dance”). Sometimes that solves the problem.

Another thing to try is simply to enter in your browser’s navigation bar the url you’d like to have (ie: whateveryoulike.wordpress.com – you have to have the wordpress.com part) and if it’s available it will take you to the right spot.

Thanks – entering the desired url in the navigation bar worked, to my surprise. It hasn’t done any harm to clean out my cookies either – I’m using IE.
