For some reason, lately I have to keep repeatedly logging in to my own account. It didn’t used to be this way; this just started happening. Is there a way for me to log in to my site/blog and stay logged in? What’s going on?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @silverstardp, I’m guessing your browser or a program you’re using is blocking cookies, or letting them expire too quickly. Can you test another browser to see if the same issue happens there?

It looks like it is indeed a browser issue. On Chrome I’m already logged in, but I have to log in myself on Edge.

Ok, please make sure that your browser is up to date: https://browsehappy.com/

If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.

If it is, please do these two things:

    1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.

    2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

Did all of the above, same results: I only have to log in when I enter my site on Microsoft Edge; on Chrome I’m already logged in.

It may have something to do with Edge updating recently. My brother’s having the same issue with Edge on his laptop, so I’m thinking that this is an Edge thing.

Thanks for clarifying. To be sure I understand, it does not help if you delete all your cookies in Edge?

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/delete-cookies-in-microsoft-edge-63947406-40ac-c3b8-57b9-2a946a29ae09

Or you mean to say that you tried that (and your brother did as well) and it did not work even after that?

Both. As I said, It could just be a glitch caused by the recent Edge update.

I see that Edge comes with some stricter privacy controls that are on by default, and may be causing issues with the login cookie we use to keep you logged in on future visits (so you do not have to log in each session)

One possibity I can think of to try is to create an exception for ‘wordpress.com’ in your privacy settings, as explained here.

But based on what you are experiencing it definitely sounds like Edge is somehow blocking our login cookie, where it seems to work fine in other browsers. Hope this helps!
