can’t subscribe to a site

  Hello. I tried to sign up to a blog from my wordpress account entering the email address I used to originally sign up and I get the following error. ‘Your subscription did not succeed, please try again with a valid email address.’ Do I need to write to the author of the blog to fix this so I can get his posts by email? Thanks for the assistance, I appreciate it.
