Cant subscribe to blog email not recognized

I have 2 WordPress sites – very different from each other. I am trying to subscribe to a blog in the niche of one but I keep getting “Your subscription could not be activated. It may have expired, or the email address you subscribed with is not attached to your WordPress.com account.”. The notification is on my WordPress account and the domain of the email shows as one of my sites. I do not want to subscribe with my other domain as they have very different purposes but I cannot see how I add the email address to my WordPress account so it lets me subscribe

What is the address of the site you’re trying to subscribe to, and what is the email address you’re trying to use to subscribe?
Do I understand correctly that you’re trying to subscribe via email only, and not with your WordPress.com username account?

Yes. I left a comment (or tried to leave a comment) on the blog (https://onestepoutside.com) and clicked the notify me boxes – which resulted in me receiving 2 emails at the address “(email visible only to moderators and staff)” asking me to confirm – when I clicked the confirm buttons it bought me to my WordPress account and told me the subscription could not be activated

I think I know what’s going on here and can help you get this sorted. It sounds like what’s happening is that you’re still logged into WordPress.com as
starsphinxcomwhen you’re clicking the subscribe link. When a subscription link is clicked when you’re logged in we try to subscribe you with that account. Since the email you are using is different than the logged in user the subscription fails.What I would recommend in this case is opening the link in a new private window or logging out as
starsphinxcomprior to subscribing. Doing so will allow you to subscribe with the new email. -
OK thank you – may I politely suggest WordPress have a look at some way of adding email addresses from registered domains as it seems silly to have both domains registered with my WordPress account but only be linked to one domains email

A WordPress.com account can only be connected to one email address at a time. This is for account security purposes.
Domain you own or connect within your account and email accounts that exist on those domains have nothing to do with your WordPress.com account credentials, and there’s no way to automatically associate those emails with your account itself. This is not something we’re going to change.
