Can't switch back to classic mode
-
When I made my last blog post – yesterday – I discovered the new 5.0 editor in place, with the new block format introduced. I could not find certain features, such as the icon to add a “read more” link on my blog so that the entire post doesn’t appear unless someone clicks “continue”. I also noticed that images are in blocks of their own – unlike classic mode, when you could just place an image where you wanted, and the text would wrap around it. Yes, you can add text to an image block, but that’s not what I’m looking for.
I’ve been trying to find a way to switch back to classic mode. However, the option does not appear when I click the three dots on the upper right of my editor screen.
I also no longer see a way to check spelling before posting.
I find that block mode reduces what I am able to do; it does not help me. It’s a disappointing step backwards for WordPress. I much prefer classic mode.
How can I go back to classic mode, and stay there?
Or, can WordPress fix the glitches in block mode – at least, bring back the “read more” feature and enable images to be inserted into text without being in a separate block? That would save me some frustration.
Thanks for your consideration.
