    Hello!

Thanks for reaching out! If you’ve recently bought a domain, you won’t be able to transfer it right away because of a rule set by ICANN, which stands for Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers.

ICANN has this rule called the “60-day lock” or “60-day transfer lock” to make sure domain registrations are secure and to prevent any unauthorized transfers. It’s important to note that this rule isn’t something specific to WordPress.com; it’s a general policy.

For the first 60 days after buying a domain or updating the owner’s information, the domain is kind of “locked.” This lock stops any attempts to move the domain to a different registrar. This waiting period is there to give the rightful owner time to confirm and secure their ownership.

While this might be a bit inconvenient if you want to transfer your domain soon after getting it, it’s a crucial security measure to safeguard the domain registration process. Once the initial 60 days are over, you can freely transfer your domain to another registrar.

In the meantime, you can change your domain’s nameservers here at WordPress.com to connect it with your new hosting company. Once the 60-day wait is done, you’ll be good to transfer the domain.

I hope this clears things up! Feel free to ask if you have any more questions.
