Can’t Transfer Site Ownership

Hello! So, the former webmaster of an organization I run is trying to transfer ownership of the site to our primary account, so we can have full control over it. They’ve tried a couple of times and it hasn’t worked. Is there anyone who can help us with this if there’s an internal error going on? Has anyone else had issues like this? Thanks!

What exactly goes wrong when you try to transfer the site?

@kokkieh. She’s followed the steps twice, and nothing ever happened on my end. I would log onto the main page trying to remove her from the site (as she no longer works for us) and it would say she’s still listed as owner. We’ve been trying this for two weeks now and it’s become a bit of a headache. I’m not sure if there’s anything the WP staff can do about it, but I think we’ve tried all options a couple times according to the link you sent.

Are you receiving an email with a confirmation link? You need to check the email address that’s associated with your WordPress.com account (https://wordpress.com/me/account).

Nope. That’s the weird thing. We’ve tried this twice now and nothing. :/

Try looking in the spam and other folders. Sometimes our emails will get caught up in places like that. It can help to add WordPress.com as a contact too. I would suggest doing a search for “WordPress.com” to see if the email can be found.
As fstat mentioned, that notification is going to be delivered to the address that is at wordpress.com/me/account/

Looked again. Still nothing. I hate to ask but is there any way y’all can change ownership? Sorry if it’s unconventional. This has been driving us nuts. :/

She misspelled it above. It’s @defenderoffaith01 (she put K instead of an O) But yes she confirmed it a couple days ago.

She confirmed your message, which didn’t contain who it was being transferred to.
We’ll need her, the current owner, to confirm who specifically ownership should be transferred to.
We consider this a security matter, and therefore can make no assumptions.

Hey, yeah I’ve followed the instructions and received the confirmation email on my end. I give full permission to transfer ownership of https://ccatholicism.wordpress.com/ to @defenderoffaith01.
