Can’t update email in General Settings

Hi, I am trying to update an email address in the General Settings part of my site from an old web developer to our new one, however when we replace the old one, it says ‘
(email visible only to moderators and staff)@ya
This address is used for admin purposes. If you change this we will send you an email at your new address to confirm it. The new address will not become active until confirmed.’ However no matter which email address we use, it is always pending and a verification email never arrives. Can someone help?

Hi @ctsshamill, I’m guessing there was a paste error? That email address that was in the comment is already in use with another account.

Do you want to transfer this site to that user?

    Hi Supernovia,
Actually no I want to remove that address off the account altogether – it is the address of a past web developer no longer working with us.
If the site is on her wordpress account can we transfer the whole thing to our personal @CTSSHamill account?
    Cheers

    Hi there,

If you have access to the account that owns the site you can follow these instructions and transfer the site to your account:

    Transfer a Site

Also, can you please let us know the site’s address so we can check if there are any upgrades that need to be transferred as well?

    Thanks!

I think it must be our old web developer’s account as it says my account doesn’t have any sites in it? We access the backend everyday however and paid the old web developer in full to create the site but then switched to self managing the site after a slight falling out. I’d prefer to manage the process entirely if we can?

    The site is: http://www.climbingthesevensummits.com
Could someone help us transfer it over to our account.

That site is using the open source WordPress software, not WordPress.com, and is not connected to any account on WordPress.com via the Jetpack plugin either, so you won’t be able to access that site via any WordPress.com username login.

The confirmation email you’re waiting for also does not come from us, but is sent directly from your site, so most likely something is wrong with either the software on your site itself, or with the email server at your hosting provider that handles these emails.

For help troubleshooting this, please try the WordPress.org forums instead – the users there have more experience with the version of the WordPress software your site is using and should be able to advise you how to fix this.

Thank you so much. Yes we’ve been having massive problems with emails being generated from our site, that’s why we are trying to switch everything. We can’t get any contact form plugins to work or anything. Any suggestions before I post in the other forum?

We’ve spoken to the host extensively, all the servers are working fine, we also tried switching our mailboxes over to Gsuite but nothing has worked so far.
