Can't upload a file

Hi,
I am trying to update an xls file on my blog, but I keep getting an error message: “Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reasons.”I have done this hundreds of times before and I have never experienced that problem. I even tried to upload again the previous version of that file, but it doesn’t work.

Hi there,
Have you tried uploading via the new interface or using a different browser? I want to try to isolate the issue and see if it is an editor related issue, a browser issue, or something else entirely.

I tried uploading the file via the new and the classic interfaces both with Firefox and Google chrome. No success.
On the new interface I get the following error message: “1 file could not be uploaded because an error occurred while uploading.” -
Hi there,
Hmm…want to try one more thing. I see that you have two sites under your account. Can you try uploading the file to your other site and see what happens?

I forgot to mention it, but the file contains macros. Not that it was ever an issue before, but maybe it’s relevant now.

The macros might be the issue. Is it possible to upload that file in another service and send us a link so that our developers can have a look?

BTW, if you try to open the file in the link you might get an error message. If you close the file and re-open it, the message does not appear. It’s probably an issue with GitHub. I haven’t encountered this problem with files downloaded from WordPress. All the more reason why I would be grateful if you could get the problem fixed soon :)

I’m seeing the same error as you when I try uploading the .xls file to a test site (“Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reasons”).
Our developers are working through a backlog at the moment so it may be a little while before they are able to review it — the speed in which this happens depends on the severity of the bug and how many sites are affected.
We’ll be in touch as soon as we have more news though.

That’s great to hear! Our developers made a change to help with this issue. I was just doing some testing and about to reply and let you know, but you got to me first :)
