Can’t upload images

I need to do a project for university and I need to upload some pictures on a post. Those pictures don’t violate the community as they are not insulting not showing sex. ”This file type is not permitted for security reasons”. That is what it says.

What is the file type?
As the error indicates, that is the issue, not the content of the images.
Only JPG, PNG and GIF image files can be uploaded to WordPress.com.
