Can't upload images to media library

I’m trying to upload 4 MB png-image to wordpress media library. I tried also other images and chrome and firefox browsers.
First loading takes multiple minutes, won’t finish and then just gives “HTTP error.”.
Anyone else having the same issue? How to fix this?

I noticed there are two WordPress.com sites listed on your account — which one are you having trouble uploading to?
4MB is a very large image for use on the web so I think that’s likely to be the reason you are having trouble. Could you try reducing the file size of the image and then upload it again? We have some recommendations for ways to optimise images here:

Thanks for your reply! I managed to upload one picture earlier to my other page and then later with the other, but now I’m having problems again. So I’m having problems with both sites.
I tried png, jpg, smaller sizes etc. but it seems that some pictures just randomly gets uploaded very rarely, and most of the times it fails. Today I saved one older image from my wordpress page (vegeretki) that I have uploaded there about a year ago, then cropped it to a square with photoshop and tried to upload it to my wordpress page with no luck.
I have never had this kinds of problems with uploading images before, has something changed in wordpress picture uploading?

Hi –
It sounds like you might have a flakey internet connection. Try running a speed test to make sure it’s preforming well. Use something like https:speedtest.net
It won’t hurt to reboot the router. You could even try the uploads from a different network to see if they work any more consistently.
