Can't use my identity to comment elsewhere
-
I am so frustrated by this and have NO clue why it happens. I’m logged in. My name is my name. But when I try to use it as my identity to comment at a blog, it ALWAYS says, “You do not own this identity.” I do too! The latest time was at this page.

I checked in advance that I was logged in at WP and also entered my name very carefully in the “comment as” place. The (!&*#( thing told me I’m not me and BLITZED my whole comment. ARGH.

Can you let me know how exactly you’re writing your name when commenting? Are you entering your full URL or just your username?
Similarly, is this only happening on Blogspot blogs or have you come across this message elsewhere?

I put my name in
chrissythehyphenated
and the blogspot thingie automatically put it into this form
http://chrissythehyphenated.wordpress.com
Is that wrong?
I tried to comment at that site without filling in any profile and got slapped (and blitzed) again, but this time because google doesn’t think I have any right to my email address. Sigh.
Finally, I just posted the comment to my OWN blog and asked the other blogger’s mom to pass it on.
I am not sure about blogspot. I rarely comment elsewhere, but come to think of it, the one place I did want to was also a blogspot site and the owner said he had so much trouble that sometimes HE was blocked from commenting on his own blog!

Hm, it looks like you have a username only account, but Blogspot is automatically adding a .wordpress.com URL. Would you be open to creating a public .wordpress.com blog? They may require that to use OpenID.

I’ll give it some thought. Thanks for finding the problem. It’s reassuring to know there’s some REASONS that “you aren’t you” message comes up! LOL
