Can’t use my WordPress username and password to login to comment

    I try to use my profile username and password to login on other sites to comment on articles and ALWAYS have problems. Some websites only allow logging in with WordPress credentials in order to make comments. Every time I need to do that, I receive an ‘invalid username’ pop up. I can always login to wordpress.com and wordpress.org successfully. I have had to change my password 100s of times in order to ultimately login to sites requiring your WordPress username (or email) and password to comment. I have received support for this issue many times over the past ten years or so, with no lasting solution.

    Some sites built with WordPress.org software require a login to comment. These sites are not connected to any other sites and use their own database of users. Your WordPress.com login will not work there, nor will the WordPress.org login.

    WordPress.com logins work for sites hosted on these servers or for self hosted sites that have enabled a WordPress.com login. A WordPress.org login only works for the WordPress.org support forums.

    Is there a specific site you’re struggling with using? I can see if they allow a WordPress.com login or require you to register on their site.
