Can’t use the domain I paid for

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi. I recently renewed my lonelymoonchronicles.com domain and have just noticed that WordPress redirects my site to the generic lonelymoonchronicles.wordpress.com instead. It says that I need to upgrade to a paid plan to be able to change that back. Does that mean I’ve wasted my money by buying a domain I can’t use? Is it possible to fix that and if not, how do I get a refund?

    Hi there,

I know how frustrating it is to be unable to use the custom domain you purchased as primary address. Let me see what I can do to help.

At the moment, your custom domain lonelymoonchronicles.com redirects to your free WordPress address because a paid plan is required to use a custom domain as your site’s primary address. Once you upgrade, you can set your domain to display in browsers instead of the .wordpress.com one.
Here’s how to do that: Set a Primary Address

If you’re looking for the most economical option, the Personal plan at $48/year includes the ability to use a custom domain, removes ads, and offers email support. You can review that here: WordPress.com Pricing
    personal plan info: Personal plan

I checked, and your domain renewal was completed on May 16. Domain renewals are refundable if canceled within 96 hours, and it looks like that window has passed.

Let me know if you have any other question.
