  • Hi there,

I see that your domain includes the language-specific character ‘è’. This type of domain is known as an Internationalized Domain Name (IDN).

Currently, WordPress.com does not support the use of IDNs. This is why our system is recognizing “douwère.be” as incorrect. We understand how important it is for you to use a domain that matches your intended name, and we are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

As a potential solution, I would recommend registering a similar domain, replacing ‘è’ with a regular ‘e’ – “douwere.be”. You should be able to register and connect this domain to your WordPress.com site without any issues.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help.

Thanks for the quick reply. Perhaps instead of writing “This is not a valid domain” you should, imho, write “This type of domain is currently not supported”.

  • Hey there,

Thank you for that feedback – we’ll be sure to pass that on. :)
