Can't verify email

  I can’t verify my email address. I have a banner at the top that pops up and says ‘To post and keep using WordPress.com you need to validate your email address. Please click the link in the email we sent at (email visible only to moderators and staff).’ I open the email, click the link, and follow the steps, but the banner never goes away. Please advise. Thanks.
