Can't verify my blogs

Hi,
I’ve been trying to verify my two newly created blogs to Google using the exact description by both Google webmaster and WordPress. I’ve retrieved the HTML code from Google webmaster and copy-pasted it into the area Website Verification Services, and I have only used the actual code, but it still doesn’t work. When pressing Save Changes on wordpress after having pasted in the code, it seems like it’s saved, but then when going back to Google Webmaster and confirming by clicking on the link containing the website address with the code no page comes up, also when clicking Verify I get an error message saying that they couldn’t verify the website. This has happened to me with both blogs. I’m carefully following the steps of the instructions, and I believe that I’ve done it correctly, so how come it still can’t verify the sites? I am truly in need of assistance and hope that you can tell me what’s wrong or if there’s an alternative way.

It sounds like you are carefully following the wrong instructions. The HTML code will never work here. You need one long code string: http://en.support.wordpress.com/webhooks/

Hi! Thanks for your reply! Could you please explain what the long code string is (and where I find it) and what the webhooks are for and how I can verify my blog with Google webmaster this way? I would really appreciate your answer and instructions as I’ve never tried this before. Thanks!

Please note they do need to be followed exactly and not mixed with other guides

Possibly because of the content. It’s repetitive breast implant spam. In order to get confirmed as the author you’ll need to have original content found nowhere else on Google, and it has to be safe for work.

Hello again. I’m having a horrible time cos I can’t verify my blog on Pinterest even tho I’ve downloaded the file. I keep getting an error with this message:
Your server responded with a status code of 404 (file not found). We tried to visit http://www.enchantedseashells.com/pinterest-0e359.html.
Can you help?
