Can't view/read my own Protected Blog even when logged in

This may be the strangest issue I have encountered with WP yet. I have a Protected Blog, which is set to this privacy level because it’s a personal blog and I just want to enjoy blogging for myself.

I am able to create posts just fine and I can read the blog through the Viewer, but if I try to just visit the site itself, I am treated to the “This site is marked private by its owner.” page (in other words, I can’t read my own private blog despite being logged in).

Is there any workaround for this? I need a solution that will allow me to keep this blog private. Thanks in advance.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

    What browser are you using?

We use browser cookies to detect whether you’re logged into your account or not. Those cookies are set on WordPress.com, so if you visit a site not on a example.wordpress.com domain, like your home.blog site, that cookie becomes what’s called a cross-site tracking cookie.

With the focus on online privacy the past couple of years, many browsers and privacy add-ons have started just blocking those by default, regardless of whether the tracking in question is necessary for a site’s features to function. So that’s the first thing we need to rule out here.

Make sure your browser settings allow third-party cookies. If your browser security settings have an option to block cross-site tracking, try disabling that, and if you’re using any privacy browser add-ons, also try disabling those. Then clear WordPress.com cookies from your browser, and log back in.

If that doesn’t help, can you check if you have the same issue if you use a different browser?
