Can’t view the exported XML file

My blog site is private, so you won’t be able to see it – Sorry about that.

My question is about Export. I went to Tools > Export, and saved the XML file on my pc, then when I opened it, other than the list of categories, it doesn’t have any posts in it and it has the following error message at the end

    ××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××
    XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

What are you opening it with?

It should have all the information is but it’s barely readable, it’s all wrapped in code and yet more code. If you really want to take a look I would suggest something like jujuedit on Windows, textedit on mac.

okay, I tried the jujuedit as suggested, thanks. You were right, it’s all wrapped ……

So if I want to export the blog and be able to edit in Word, or something like that, what’s the best way.

I did try using Word 2007 to open the blog post, but it only shows first 10 or something, I couldn’t see all the posts.

    Thanks

If you edit the export XML file in Microsoft Word, you will not be able to re-import it into a blog again. Word processing software such as Word is not for editing the code in XML files.

If you want to edit your blog offline, Windows Live Writer may suite your needs.
