Captcha plugin

  Hi
  We would like to add a captcha function to our contact page, but this doesn’t appear to be possible at this stage. Can WordPress please make captcha plugin available so that we can limit the amount of spam comments that come into our website.

  I realize that this is in the Ideas forum, but

  so that we can limit the amount of spam comments that come into our website.

  Akismet does a good job of catching spam comments.

  Are you finding these comments in the Spam folder or in the Comments pending review?

  Do you have your Discussion settings set to hold comments pending review?

  If these comments are in the Spam folder, you can review them, but WPcom will automatically delete them after 30 days.

  Hi justjennifer,

  Yes, Akismet does a great job of catching spam, and most spam goes into the spam folder (our website has been running for 5 months and it has caught almost 900 comments). What we want to do is stop the spam from even getting that far because we still have to waste time checking to make sure legitimate comments haven’t been relegated to the spam folder. This would be more efficient if our comment form employed a captcha as it would stop non-human generated comments coming through.

  I still agree with 1Maria6 for both comments and contact so spammers can’t bombard us with, well spam.

  I don’t know about you but time is one resource we can’t get back so I don’t want to wade through all the comments to find which is good or not.
  So ya that would be nice for them to just add into it from the beginning.

  A lot of spam is human generated and Captcha would not really help on that other than to slow them down a bit

  I have been told there are software tools that will defeat Captcha also –
