    Browser: Internet Explorer 8.0.6001.187021C
    Update Version: 0
I am using the WordPress.com, Chateau Theme

    Blog: http://www.fineeyefordesign.com

Please note, I have images that support the following description. Will be happy to share them if you let me know where to send them.

    Description:
On the main page, in a Post, I want to enter a left-oriented photo with a caption underneath the related text to the right.

    Step 1.
a)in the photo editor, I selected the Left radio button > clicked the <Update> button
b)Clicked <update> in the “publish” box
    c)Clicked the <preview changes> button
In the Preview window, the photo correctly displayed on the Left side of the screen and the text on the right.

    Step 2
I want to enter a caption so it appears under the photo.
    a) Going back to the Photo editing environment – the radio button still shows the Left photo orientation, which is what I expected
    b) In the ‘Caption’ field, I entered the word “test”
    c) Clicked the <Update> button
    d) Clicked the <Update> in the “publish” box
    e) Clicked the <preview changes> button
! In the Preview window, the photo is in the center (incorrect) and the caption with the word “test” is not displayed (incorrect)

    Step 3
Back in the Dashboard > Post >Edit photo
On the photo, I clicked on the “edit photo” icon to see what’s going on.
What I see is the following:
    a) no orientation button is selected. All radio-buttons are blank.
    b) the word “test” disappeared from the Caption field.

  • Does it work correctly if you set the caption and alignment initially before inserting the photo for the first time?

When I insert a photo and a caption for the first time it works correctly. But I am trying to enter a caption in the images from the earlier posts, e.g. imagine there was a mistake in an earlier caption. If the WordPress offers an editing environment, I use it. If the earlier posts are un-editable, what’s the point of letting people manipulate the photo and text in the caption field?

I still would like to know how to deal with the problem.

  • Basically, I’m just trying to narrow down the problem so we can effectively reproduce the issue.

Can you effectively remove the image from the post you’re editing and then re-insert with all of the values correctly?

To re-insert it, hit the add/upload image button and choose the image from the Gallery or Media tab, rather than uploading a new one.

The answer is yes, when I delete the existing photo and then re-insert it again from any source, the media library or the computer drive, the caption text shows up.

Okay, learned my lesson – must delete photo/re-insert again with a new caption.

    Thank you
