Caption Frame Missing (Blocks Editor)
-
Hey all,
I haven’t blogged since August 2020, but now I’m seeing that with my new post draft, my photos’ captions aren’t contained in the normal frame, nor are they centred. In order to illustrate what I mean, I took two screenshots – one of an old post where things are right, and one of my draft preview where it’s messed up.
Old/good: https://ibb.co/gRdc9jD
New/bad: https://ibb.co/BtzF5StI tried fiddling with things but with this awful blocks editor there are very few things I can tweak with the picture uploads. Despite the fact that I have a paid account, I cannot seem to access the classic editor (and/or plugin).
Please help me fix this. Thank you!

Okay, I found a strange workaround: by opening a new block of classic editor I can then add an image and it will appear in the preview/post as I like.
However, I’d still like to verify that there are plans to keep the frame for the blocks editor without having to use this time-consuming workaround. -
Hi there,
To clarify, the theme you are using is an older one that we retired some time ago so it may not be fully compatible with our newer “block editor” which seems to be the case based on the screenshots you’ve shared. Because this theme is retired, we do not have plans to make any changes to it, but instead recommend switching to a newer theme.
You are of course welcome to continue to use the Depo Masthead theme, but it is possible you may have more issues as time goes on and it falls further and further out of date with current website coding practices.
If you prefer to use your current theme for now, It is possible to use custom CSS (this will require our Premium plan) to get the styling to match, so you can use the block editor but have the images and captions appear as they do in the classic editor.
The other option (as you discovered) is to use the “Classic block” and add your image/caption inside of that block, which also works.

Hi jerrysarcastic,
Thank for for the clarification. I was suspicious that my retired theme might be a reason for this not working correctly. Hopefully the “Classic block” option will continue to serve me well for years to come.
