Caption not appearing on Featured Image

I’ve added a featured image on a blog post and following the support page on how to do so it says you can add a caption as you can with normal images on the post, but when I preview it the caption is not showing, could there be any reason why? I have tried different images as well but doesn’t seem to be working

The Featured Themes support page says:
If desired, you can add a caption and alt text by clicking the Edit button (optional).
On a test site, with two different themes (Illustratr and Affinity), I found that captions do not appear on a featured image. I wonder if captions only appear on featured image with certain themes. However, the support page says nothing to indicate that it wouldn’t universally work, so I’m going to call for staff attention to this topic.

Hi folks, captions don’t always appear with featured images. They’re often used as a design element where a caption may look a bit weird. But if you insert that same image as a regular image in a post, its caption will appear there.
