Captions

    I am placing captions on my photos, but on some of them, part of the text displays to one side and not under the photo. How can I get it to all align properly under the photo?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hello @ghsbp,

    Try disabling any plugins you have active, and see if it still happens. With plugins still disabled, switch to the Twenty Seventeen theme, then switch back to Newsworthy.

    If it still happens after trying the above, my best guess right now is that the CSS in the theme may be out of date. While WordPress.org is a different product than WordPress.com, the Newsworthy listing there indicates that the theme has not been updated for a couple of years. I will tag this post for moderator attention to this issue.

    The quickest and easiest thing to do right now might just be to find a different theme that you like on your site. You could also try only using images that are landscape orientation, since the problem seems to happen on portrait orientation only.

    If you have a Premium or Business account, you could also try adding custom CSS of the following:
    .wp-caption .wp-caption-text { float: inherit; }

    Thank you. I switched to another theme and it fixed the alignment issues.

    I hope that Newsworthy eventually gets updated. I love its quirkiness.

    @ghsbp
    Great! Glad to hear you found a solution that works for you.

    Yes, I hope so as well. It looks like a nice theme.

    Hi,
    The distance between image and caption in the Wilson theme is too large – the caption is too far below the images. Especially in the [gallery] format it’s just too much. Can a code or another handle create a closer distance?

    Hope someone can help. Thanks.

    Hi @jorgenf,

    I apologize for the late response! While I understand why you placed your question here as a related issue to the original post in this thread, starting your own new thread will usually get a much faster response. Many of us seek out unanswered and/or new threads to ensure everyone gets a response. :) Just something to keep in mind for the future.

    Try adding the following to your custom CSS:
    .gallery-caption { padding-top: 0; }

    Here is more general information on using Custom CSS on WordPress.com (which does require a Premium or Business account).
