Captions disappeared when I switched to Book Lite theme

  Hi! Just flipped my page theme from Hemingway Rewritten to Book Lite. I had had captions under all the images on my “options” page, but when I switched to Book Lite the captions disappeared. Are media captions simply not supported in Book Lite? Or is there an easy was I can add them that I’m missing?

  Hi Marty,

  Book Lite hides captions from individual gallery images as part of its design. It does, however, display anything entered into the “description” field alongside each image. You could therefore copy/paste your captions over to the description field in order to get the text to display.

  If you upgrade to WordPress.com Premium or Business then you can also override the theme’s design and force the captions to display with the following custom CSS:

  .gallery-caption {
      z-index: 9999;
      display: block;
  }
