Capture consent & hide the banner issues

  • Unknown's avatar

    Good Day to You,

I’m having issues with the “Cookies & Consents Banner” widget.

In Customize, I can’t change the “Capture consent & hide the banner” from the default radio button setting of “after the user clicks the dismiss button” to the radio button “after the user scrolls the page”.

Now the banner is staying up after selecting the dismiss button, both on my laptop using the Chrome browser and my Android phone.

I opened up the Edge browser and tried, without being able to hide the banner.

    I have a free account.

    How can I fix this?

Is someone from Automatic monitoring this forum able to help me?

    Thanks

I’m encountering the same problem. Clicking “I accept” merely refreshes the screen without removing the requester box.
I’ve tested this on Chrome and Firefox.

    Hello,

    I have the same issue.

Also, I changed a bit the text to translate it in French and now I have the default message in english in addition of that issue :S

I hope this will be fixed soon.

I believe I found the issue!
I had installed the “Cookies & Consent” banner on two different menus and was deleting it only on one.
Once I deleted all instances of it, then refreshed the page, the requester is gone.
Not sure I want to replace this until they fix the bug.

    Ok, got it!

If you disable the widget, you still have the banner with the default message (in my case, I lost my personal french message).
So if you activate the widget, it seems there is a conflict between the banner activated by default and the widget one.

I think that an update on this should be great.

Thanks for the suggestions anthonystevens and kenwood31.

I removed the widget and the banner disappeared.

Unfortunately, reinstalling the widget recreated the same problem.

Considering that the new EU law is now in effect, I feel it is better to leave it up (even though it is a nuisance).

Hopefully, Automatic will have a fix soon.

Would computers be as much fun without the occasional bug?

At least this one doesn’t stop us from creating.

Meanwhile, have a great Memorial Day weekend.

Nice to know I’m not alone!

You’re right. It is good to know we’re not alone.

I’m sure Automatic is hearing of this bug from a lot of sources and they’ll announce a fix in the next day or so.

In the meantime, I’ve got a detailed Privacy Statement on my site and will wait until they fix the issue.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

  • Thanks folks. We’re trying to gather more info on this, so we appreciate these posts. Once we’ve figured out how to consistently duplicate the issue we should be close to a solution.

I just tried again by adding the consent banner widget.
The same thing happens. Every time you click the “Accept” button, the banner flickers and comes back.
I’ve deleted it and will wait for some word on an update.
Just for the record I’m working with:
    Kubuntu Linux 18.04LTS
    Chrome
    Firefox

  • Thank you for testing this out. I’ll keep you updated on any new developments.
