  I am creating a car dealer website and want to include our dealer inventory to the site a la cars.com so that it is a searchable database.
  What is the best way to do it? Is there a plugin that I can purchase for this purpose?

  That’s not possible on a WordPress.COM hosted blog. You need to hire a web host http://wordppress.org/support/ and set up your own WordPress.ORG software install. For clarity read http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
