Hi there,
When I visit your site, everything appears to be displaying correctly for me. Here is a screenshot of what I see when I visit: https://cloudup.com/cKhgMysjgte
So the good news is that if I can see it correctly, it’s a good bet that your visitors see it that way too. I suspect that your browser may be causing the issue you see on your end, so can you try a different browser (like chrome/firefox) or a different computer if you can, and see if the problem persists?
Also I noticed that you are not using the in-built post slider found on the homepage of the demo site here: http://expounddemo.wordpress.com/
Did you have trouble setting that up, or do you prefer the slideshow instead?

As for the in-built post slider, I didn’t think I could add it as I don’t have a premium account is that true? I can’t seem to see any area to add this post slider?

Nope, that is built into the theme, and you can set it up using the instructions here, under “Setting Featured and Primary Posts”

Note: This feature appears on your blog feed page, which you have moved to here: http://highlightsphotography.co.uk/blog/
You can see that two posts are already using the tag you set “Wedding Photographer” and are appearing in the featured area. Just add Featured Images to these, and they will look exactly like the home page in the theme demo.
