Carousel Gallery Image Display Issue

  • Unknown's avatar

    I created a bunch of pages with carousel galleries. All the photos are rectangular. But the carousel galleries display them as squares. It looks bad. How can I get the full rectangular images to display?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Howdy Collin,

    Can you link me to a page on your site with a photo gallery so I can take a look? I checked a few of your pages, but they all read “Photos Coming Soon”.

    The gallery items should display in their original resolution when they’re clicked on (to open up the slideshow). You can see an example if you click on an image in the first gallery example here:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery/#examples-of-gallery-styles

    However, I don’t think there’s a way to adjust the display size of the images within the actual gallery. If I see an example on your site, I’ll be able to confirm though!

    How many did you check? A lot of pages have photos.

    It’s displaying photos as 440 x 400, almost like squares. But the original resolution is more like 1584 x 3456. And the media settings max out large photos at 1024 x 1024, medium at 300 x 300, and thumbnails at 150 x 150. So maybe that has something to do with the square ish photos?

    Or maybe it has something to do with my theme?

    I dont even know lol

    It’s weird.

    Howdy Collin,

    Sorry – I checked three posts, but I must have been unlucky with my selection. Thanks for passing this link along!

    There’s a margin-left property being added to the images. Can you add the following code under Appearance -> Customize -> CSS?

    .slideshow-window img.size-big, .wp-caption.caption-big {
    	margin-left: 0;
    }

    That should make the slideshow appear correctly as shown here:

    Let me know if this works on your side! I’ll check in with our Theme team to see how we can fix this permanently for the theme rather than having to do it with custom CSS.
