Carousel Images not sharp.

  • Unknown's avatar

The images in my carousel slideshows are not nearly as sharp as the original image.
I am not sure if I need to allow the maximum size to be smaller or something?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

I just took a look at the images in your recent post here: http://maxxamphoto.wordpress.com/2013/07/18/maplewood-pawnshop/

The images in the carousel in that post are looking very sharp on my end. Can you provide a screenshot of what you are seeing? You can upload screenshots to your Media Library under Media > Add New in your dashboard, or you can use an online service such as Snaggy.

If we are seeing different things, I can use that to investigate what’s causing the issue on your end. Thanks!

    Hello.
I just uploaded a screenshot of the original image (taken from the full size option), and then a screenshot taken from the carousel slideshow to my media library.
You should be able to see the difference. It may be subtle, but, to me, it is noticeable.
    Thanks for your help.

Hi there, thank you for sending those screenshots — I see what you mean about the difference in sharpness. I am checking with our team about possible causes for this issue and will give you an update as soon as I have more info. :)

Hi there, I’m still waiting for more information from my team about this issue. I will let you know as soon as I have news or information about fixing it! :)

    Hello.

So any luck with making the slide show images sharper?
I searched around online, and its seems like I dont have many options other than upgrading wordpress and purchasing a slideshow plugin…

Sorry for the delay with this. We are working on a possible solution for the image issues you are seeing, but I don’t have an exact timeline for when it will be implemented. I am checking with our team about it now.

The images in the carousel slideshow look great on my end, so this issue isn’t affecting all of the visitors to your site. Of course, we’re still looking into ways we can improve this on your end, as well. Thanks for your patience while we work on it.

Since you are considering other options, I also wanted to let you know that it is not possible to install plugins on WordPress.com, for security reasons. Plugins can only be installed on self-hosted WordPress blogs. If you are wondering how WordPress.com differs from WordPress.org, this support article explains the distinction: WordPress.com and WordPress.org

Ok! The possible solution I mentioned has been done. Can you please try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies and then let me know how the images look to you? Thanks!

Dang. looks the same as before. I cleared all my cookies and everything…Normally I wouldn’t be so persistent, but I make my living from photography, and it’s important that everything is as sharp as possible, so as not to reflect poorly on my business.

Thanks for sticking with me tho.

Well, that’s no good. I have been testing the images in this post and haven’t been able to reproduce the blurry image that you showed me: http://maxxamphoto.wordpress.com/2013/07/12/more-broadway/

If you don’t mind answering a few questions, it will really help:

    1. What operating system, web browser, and screen resolution does your computer have? Please include the version numbers, as well. If you aren’t sure, you can check here: http://supportdetails.com/
    2. If you look at the images in that blog post in another browser or on another computer, do they still look blurry? You can download other popular browsers here if you need: http://browsehappy.com/
    3. What is the URL (site address) in the browser’s address bar when you are looking at the image in the carousel slideshow?
    4. If you right-click on the image in the carousel and open it in another browser window or tab, what is the URL (site address) in the browser’s address bar?

That information will help us keep investigating this for you. Thanks!
