Cart Empty’s when customer logs in

If my customers add to their cart and then log in their cart empties. Do I have to tell customers that they need to log in before they add to their cart or can this be fixed?

Can you please elaborate a bit more on the situation? Is the same thing happening on all the customer accounts and have you checked this yourself on a different browser?
