You cannot categorize pages. The links on your only post lead to pages!
You want to make the content you intend to put on those pages as posts, with categories such as

    debras-kitchen-2
    life-thru-the-lens
    me-myself-and-i
    nannys-corner
    spirituality-2
    thailand-3/
    travellers-tales
    uk-2

The difference between posts and pages is crucial to understand. Please read this:

    Pages vs. Posts

Thanks for replying, yes I am aware of pages not being cateorized..so I have tried to start over again, delete pages and add new catatories. But when I add a new catagory nothing is showing, only Debra’s Place. I wanted to add categories of Thailand, UK, Life thru the lens, Spirituality, Debra’s Kitchen etc into categories.

I did try, went to post ~ categories~ add Category – Debra’s Kitchen on the button Parent was not sure what to press so left as I did not want to be a parent of Debra’s Place but to be on its own underneath showing rather than hidden..

clicked add category and nothing has happend, just debras place showing…

On you tube when watching how to add a category there is a slug button after name but I do not have one..

    Kind Regards

    Debra

A category will show up in your sidebar only if there’s at least one published post filed under that category. Makes sense: since categories are supposed to be the main sub-groups of your posts, there’s no point displaying a group of zero posts.

When you add a category in Posts > Categories, it simply becomes available in the list of categories you can select from when you create or edit a post. So the add-new-category option on that dashboard screen is practically useless: when you need a new category for a post, you can create it upon creating the post, by clicking the “Add New Category” tab in the Categories module of the post editor. If you’re not seeing the Categories module while on the post editor screen, click Screen Options (top right) to activate it.
