  I want viewers to be able to click on paintings, prints, collage, sewing, etc. How do I do this and upload photos into each of these categories?

  What do you want to happen when someone clicks on one of the images?

  The photos will have to be placed in posts. Images by themselves cannot be categorized. You could use the gallery function to show a group of paintings in a post or you can insert them one-by-one and then include text with each image if you wish.
