“catagory” pages

Thanks in advance for any help, and apoligies now for my clumsiness in explaining the problem.

I’m making a site for an organization that has multiple chapters. I hoped to make each chapter a “catagory” — and each chapter would then have their corresponding category page as their site.

Ideally, I’d like to be able to make specific, static pages that only appear on specific individual catagory pages. I don’t know if that’s possible, but it would be a lifesaver if it was.

The main reason for this is one of the chapters has its own website, also a WP site. They have 3 times the members as the other chapters, so, if I can’t put their chapter-specific info on their ‘catagory’ page, I’d like to put some redirect code so clicking on their catagory got you to their own site. Is that possible?

    Thanks!

Well, you won’t be able to have their “category” link to their website, but we might be able to get some of this other stuff going for you!

So, is this blog you are creating the “official” organizational website where the other chapters will also be posting or will this just be an “overview” type website with each chapter having their own blogs as well? The reason I ask is for the design!

If that was the case, then you could have a category for each “chapter” that each blogger for each chapter could post into and each chapter could have their own category. Bad news is that they all make it to the main page in chronological order!

Depends on what you want, but I would suggest if each chapter has lots of changing information to have their own blogs. If they just have a little information that changes, you could use “pages versus posts” for each chapter that would be listed either in the top or the sidebar of your site. Pages are really just the ‘static’ information type pages. It could also link to their individual blogs as well.

That would leave the main posting for the “overall”.

See what I mean!? It depends on what kind of structure you are thinking about!
